About Us

Wetlands are a defining factor in development across the Gulf Coast region, and effective planning requires both technical expertise and practical regulatory experience.

Since the adoption of the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual by all 13 Corps Districts, Sanders Environmental has served as a trusted consultant to developers navigating wetland and permitting challenges.

Our firm’s client base spans the country from Oregon to South Florida, and it maintains strong working relationships with state and federal regulatory agencies as well as engineers throughout south Mississippi, including extensive experience supporting major pipeline and infrastructure projects, housing developments, and everything in between.

Dr. Dana Sanders, Sr.

Our Founder

Dr. Dana Sanders Sr. is a nationally recognized wetland scientist and the principal author of the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual, which established the federal framework still used to identify and delineate wetlands. He brings decades of experience in wetland science, regulatory permitting, and environmental consulting and has helped guide projects of all sizes through complex state and federal requirements. His technical expertise and practical approach form the foundation of Sanders Environmental Services.

Dana Sanders, Jr.

Wetland Consultant

Dana Sanders, Jr. has worked in wetland consulting since 1987 under the guidance of his father, Dr. Dana Sanders Sr., principal author of the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual. In 2018, he assumed leadership of Sanders Environmental Services and continues the firm’s longstanding commitment to technical accuracy, regulatory integrity, and practical environmental solutions.

For more than 15 years, Dana has led the firm’s wetland delineation, mapping, and reporting efforts on projects ranging from small residential parcels to large-scale developments exceeding 2,600 acres. His experience includes residential and commercial development, pipeline corridors, infrastructure projects, and complex state and federal permitting matters.

Because wetlands are a major consideration in development throughout the Gulf Coast, successful project planning requires both sound science and a practical understanding of the regulatory process. Dana works closely with developers, engineers, landowners, and regulatory agencies to identify constraints, reduce delays, and develop workable permitting strategies. Sanders Environmental Services has served clients from Oregon to South Florida and maintains strong working relationships with state and federal agencies and engineering firms throughout South Mississippi.
